It may be hard to believe it, but another weekend is approaching. In case you were racking your brain looking for some entertainment but didn’t know where to start, look no further. This weekend, Philly starts to thaw out: One ice rink closes while a pop-up tropical experience opens. Elsewhere in the city: get your tickets for new performing arts shows and close out Black History Month on a high note. No excuses now.

Trestle Inn
It’s a disco duo of epic proportions. Callowhill’s Trestle Inn dedicates happy hour to the Bee Gees and ABBA where you can vibe out to vinyl records, go-go dancers, and music videos from the groups. Plus, a themed cocktail and happy hour specials.

Horticulture Center
It may be cold outside, but it’s tropical inside the greenhouse in Fairmount Park. For one weekend only, visitors can warm up in the lush green landscape for family activities—like games, face paint, and arts and crafts—slated for the daytime. You can even pre-order a picnic lunch for supreme spring cosplay. Come nightfall, the vibe skews mature with food, cocktails, and music.

Dilworth Park
After warming up in the greenhouse, cool off with a few laps around the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink before it closes for the season. Admission to the rink gets you 90 minutes of skating and rentals are available, too. It’s also last call at the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin, the ski chalet-inspired watering hole for booze and bites.

Greater Philadelphia Expo Center
Whether you’re a DIY diva or are in need of some design inspo, the Philly Home and Garden Show features speakers, exhibitors, and displays dedicated to all things dwelling. Expect a market for garden items, flowers, and succulents, construction and home renovation vendors (in case you were in need of a contractor or painter), and speakers like Joe Mazza, host of HGTV’s Home Inspector Joe.

German Society of Pennsylvania
Maybe you’ve strolled past the large, three-story 19th century building at 7th and Spring Garden and thought it looked cool and old. Well, said structure is home to the German Society of Pennsylvania, who is once again hosting a Bierfest after a two-year hiatus. Sample German-style beers — like Lagers, Kôlsches, Bocks and Weizens — from Pennsylvania and beyond, plus watch burlesque, listen to oompah music, and more.

What’s so funny about grief? Well, Michael Cruz Kayne has a few things to say about that. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert writer makes laughs out of sad moments in a local performance of the show that will see its off-Broadway debut in May.

National Liberty Museum
Head to the National Liberty Museum for all things superheroes, creativity, fantasy, and Black identity for a day of all-ages programming, presented alongside the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention. Meet artists and authors—like Shawn Alleyne, founder of Pyroglyphics Studio / The Xion Network and Akinşeye Brown, founder of Sokoya Comics and author of How To Draw African Superheroes—attend a workshop on how to make comics, and sit in on a panel on world building.

Another restaurant week incoming: Main Line Today Restaurant Week kicks off on Sunday and runs through March 11, bringing prix fixe lunch and dinner menus to over 40 restaurants on the Main Line. Participating establishments include Lola’s Garden, Twenty One Pips, and Stove & Tap.
