Boozy Gummy Bear Popsicles

There’s no candy that makes us more nostalgic for childhood than gummy bears. Even if you’re a chocolate person, you can’t deny the persuasive power of the fruity, springy little candies that come in every color of the rainbow. But everyone grows up, even gummy bears. And a booze soaked bear is one of the ultimate tasty treats. While you could totally soak your bears and them eat them as a snack, we love them freezing them into another one of our favorite childhood treats, popsicles.

Making boozy gummy bear popsicles requires some time and patience, but the eye-catching result is worth the labor. First, you need to soak the gummy bears in vodka overnight so their little sugary bodies plump up with the liquor. Then you pop a couple into the popsicle molds, fill with lemonade and put them in the freezer for 90 minutes. The tricky part comes next when you use a long, thin object (we prefer a chopstick) to push additional bears into the slushy lemonade. Then you add the stick and freeze them overnight. Voila! By morning you have a pretty, lightly alcoholic treat to beat the heat.

There’s no shame in using store-bought lemonade for these boozy gummy bear popsicles. Just make sure you use a brand like Newman’s Own that doesn’t contain any corn syrup or artificial flavors. But if you want to make lemonade from scratch, by all means go for it. These frozen delights will taste even better.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Cup gummy bears
  • 1 Cup vodka
  • 3 cups lemonade

INSTRUCTIONS

Step one

Add gummy bears and vodka to a bowl or jar. Cover and soak overnight.

Step two

Drain the gummy bears from the vodka. Reserve the candy-infused booze for another use.

Step three

Add two gummy bears to each popsicle mold. Fill the molds with lemonade. Do not insert the stick part just yet.

Step four

Put the molds in the freezer for about about 90 minutes, or until the liquid is slushy (check every 30 minutes because everyone’s freezer is different).

Step five

Using a chopstick or other long, thin object, push three more gummy bears into each mold, trying your best to position them in different parts of the popsicle.

Step six

Smooth out the top, add the popsicle stick and let sit in the freezer overnight.

Step seven

Carefully, using a little cool water if needed, loosen the pops from the molds. Enjoy.
